The Ukrainian parliament demands from the world community to condemn and take measures against the Russian Federation for recognizing the “LDNR”.
The Verkhovna Rada at a meeting on Tuesday, February 22, by 336 votes adopted a statement condemning Russia’s recognition of the independence of the “LDNR”.
“We call on foreign states, international regional organizations not to recognize the independence of illegal self-proclaimed entities in certain areas of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions,” the statement says.
Parliament calls to condemn the decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the independence of ORDLO as illegal.
“We emphasize that this decision is part of the long-term systemic efforts of the Russian Federation aimed at undermining the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and destroying its statehood,” the statement says.
The deputies fully blamed the Russian Federation for the worsening situation in the Donbass.
The Parliament also called on foreign states and international organizations “to introduce additional tough sectoral financial, personal sanctions against the Russian Federation and its leadership in order to stop the armed aggression against Ukraine and prevent further escalation of the security situation in Europe, including freezing the launch of Nord Stream-2, turning off the Russian Federation from the international interbank system SWIFT and a ban on the export of high technologies to the Russian Federation, including those related to the Russian military-industrial complex.
Parliament calls on foreign governments to help strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability.
In addition, the Rada supported: the president’s request to the member states of the UN Security Council with the requirement to hold consultations on urgent measures to reduce tension, the president’s appeal to convene an urgent expanded meeting of the UN Security Council.
