The Race Against Time: Bordeaux’s Battle with DNCG to Balance the Budget

While the club Bordeaux lost a first battle before the Disciplinary Committee of the LFP (but does not abdicate and should appeal), another far more important deadline is looming on the horizon: that of the appointment with the DNCG ! Initially scheduled for June 22, it is likely to be postponed to June 28 so that the Girondins prepare a solid file. We informed you a few weeks ago of the “optimistic” hypothesis concerning the FCGB’s 15 million euro deficit in 2023-2024 (at equal payroll), but according to information from our colleagues at at Sud Ouest, the hole to fill would rather be between 20 and 25 million euros for the coming season.

As expected, Bordeaux can balance its accounts with a capital contribution made by the president and majority shareholder Gérard Lopez or a minority newcomer (still wanted by the Girondins), but the most obvious method in the immediate future seems above all to be to promise to the financial policeman the sale of a good number of players to be able to balance its budget. In the worst case, the National Management Control Department can prohibit Bordeaux residents from recruiting this summer, or even demote them administratively to National like last season (before the FFF Comex reinstates them in Ligue 2).
