The Qur’an and Science Explain that Mountains Function as Earth Pegs : Okezone techno

JAKARTA – Experts reveal that Earth has a very thick surface. Its thickness reaches approximately 6,035 km from the core to the Earth’s surface.

While the Earth’s crust is only about 1 to 30 miles thick. This has long been revealed in the holy book of the Qur’an.

The book ‘The Koran vs. Modern Science According to Dr. Zakir Naik’ by Ramadhani and his friends explains that the Earth’s crust is the outermost layer that resembles solid skin. While the inside is a hot liquid.

Through this structure, the Earth’s crust has a high possibility of moving so that it can cause vibrations or shocks. Scientifically, in order to reduce or inhibit this movement, the phenomenon of folding of the Earth’s crust occurs.

Modern science later discovered that the mountain paths formed by the folding phenomenon played an important role in maintaining the stability of the Earth’s crust from shocks.

This explanation is in accordance with the description presented by Dr. Frank Press, a geologist who was once the President of the Academy of Sciences in the United States. He as one of the authors of the book ‘Earth’, describes in his writings that mountains are shaped like pegs.

The surface of the mountain that humans see and rises to the ground is only a small part of the entire mountain. Another part of the mountain is that its roots are embedded in the Earth.

This scientific finding has been described in the Qur’an approximately 14 centuries ago. In several verses it is explained that mountains were created so that the Earth does not shake.

And We made on the earth anchors, lest it befall them, and We made therein blind paths, so that they might be swept away by Him.

“And We have made in the earth strong mountains so that it (does not) shake with them and We have made (also) in it broad roads that they may be guided,” (QS. Al Anbiya: 31 )

Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala also said in another verse.

Have we not made the earth a cradle?

And the mountains are pegsۖ

“Have We not made the Earth as a stretch? and the mountains as pegs?” (Surat an-Naba: 6–7)

And He cast on the earth pillars that it should pour you out, rivers and paths, so that you may be guided.

“And He has set up mountains in the earth so that it does not shake with you, (and He created) rivers and roads that you may be guided.” (QS. An-Nahl: 15)
