The question of the ‘coup’ arose in the body PSSI. In connection with this, there was also the suggestion to remove the general secretary of the PSSI Yunus Nusi who was said to have carried out the manoeuvre.

According to the founder of the Football Institute, Budi Setiawan, what Yunus Nusi and Exco did can no longer be called a maneuver. But it is also an attempt at a ‘coup’.
“In our opinion, this is ironic, Pak Iwan Bule (Ketum PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan) actually, was reluctant for KLB at first (he resigned as general chairman). But then there was pressure from internal parties who prompted him to apply again to KLB February 2023,” Budi Setiawan said in his statement, Thursday (29/12/2022)
“There is an internal PSSI party that is encouraging Iwan Bule to run again, so that they can gain the moral legitimacy to sit on the executive committee again. So it is actually more of a self-interest. the important thing is to get a place in exco even if you get promoted,” he added.
With indications of a “coup” by the general secretary PSSI and unscrupulous people, Iwan Bule should have acted. For this reason Budi has proposed removing the position of Secretary General of the PSSI from Yunus Nusi.
“Effort Rebellion (coup) implemented by the Secretary General should be shelved immediately. Because of that (the dismissal of the general secretary) is entirely the responsibility of the general president, the members of the Exco can only give assurances,” he said.
And the people who are planning this “coup” should worry whoever runs for the presidency of the PSSI in the future. Budi said there must be a moral punishment and a critical note for the coup plotters, so that they are not re-elected.
Budi also mentioned figures who had served as general secretary of PSSI whom he considered credible for this position, such as Nugraha Besoes, Joko Driyono to Ratu Tisha.
“When you compare these names with the current secretary general of the PSSI (Yunus Nusi), they obviously are like earth and sky, not apple to apple. Speaking of quality, there seems to be reason enough to replace Yunus Nusi as secretary general of the PSSI,” he said.
So who is fit to replace Yunus Nusi if Iwan Bule is actually sacked as general secretary? Budi said, obviously it has to be someone who really understands Indonesian football.
He didn’t hesitate to mention Tommy Welly who deserved to replace Yunus Nusi. Budi said, the man who is familiarly called Bung Towel, in addition to being popular, also understands football both technically and organizationally.
“In my opinion, a figure worthy of being Secretary General PSSI in this transitional era to KLB is Tommy Welly (Bung Towel). PSSI needs a strong figure to legitimize the transformational efforts they are envisioning. If Yunus is replaced with a towel, this is a New Year’s gift from Iwan Bule to the Indonesian fans,” concluded Budi Setiawan.
