When Non-Binary people are nominated for the Tony Awards, what category are they placed in?
After all the winners of the 2023 Tony Awards were announced. A new chapter in history was made when two Non-Binary Persons won the prize and became the first Non-Binary Person to win in that category. Which one question arises is that when the awards are divided into actor and actress categories, they will be classified in which category?

American actor and singer Alex Newell, who is best known for his role on Glee as Unique Adams, has told Variety that if a non-binary artist is nominated for a Tony Award, he will be eligible for the award. Choosing whether to be in the Actor or Actress category, which for Alex himself chose the Actor category for the reason that “Usually I use English as my first language. Those who are actors are all called ‘Actor’, and this is not a gender restriction either.”
