The film is jointly produced by Shengzhou Yue Opera Art Protection and Inheritance Center and Shaoxing Jiadong Cultural Communication Co., Ltd.

The Yue Opera movie “Queen of Hanwen” tells the story of a wise queen during the Han Dynasty who was impartial and selfless and killed her relatives for justice. Not long after Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty came to the throne, he appointed Dou Ji as queen and found Dou Guangping, her younger brother who had been separated from Dou Ji for 12 years. However, Dou Guangping fell into a conspiracy and committed a serious crime. Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty and Empress Dou had a deep love, and they were hesitant about law enforcement and favoritism. Empress Dou understood the righteousness and supported Emperor Wen of Han Dynasty to strictly enforce the law.

The Yue Opera “Queen of Han” was rehearsed by the Shanghai Yue Opera Theater and the Shengzhou Yue Opera Troupe in the 1980s. It has been performed frequently and reveals the governance concept of “enforcing the law to ensure the prosperity of the country.” This time it was put on the big screen, it has attracted many people. The audience’s eyes lit up. “The film has optimized the original script and used film narrative techniques to highlight the emotional collision of ‘love’ and ‘law’ and create the image of a wise emperor and empress,” said Qian Yong, the film’s director.

It is understood that the film has many famous Yue opera actors participating in it. Huang Meiju, a national first-class actor and winner of the Plum Blossom Award for Chinese Drama, plays the leading role as Queen Dou; national first-class actors Qiu Qiaofang and Ni Jinjin star, and actors from Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe, Yin Pai Xiaosheng Chen Lijun and a team of actors from the Shengzhou Yue Opera Troupe joined the cast.

As the birthplace of Yue Opera, Shengzhou has focused on the inheritance and innovative development of Yue Opera in recent years, promoting the renewal of traditional opera culture. In addition to bringing classic plays to the screen, Shengzhou has also created modern Yue opera plays such as “The Love of the Walnut Tree”, “Ma Yinchu”, “Yuan Xuefen” and “Ao Xue Fragrance”, and created and staged traditional Yue opera costume plays such as “Cai Wenji” and “The Song of Desert Li” as well as “Snowy Night Visit” “Dai”, “People’s Diary” and other Yue Opera short plays, creating a number of fine works.
