The Qatari organizers and FIFA are still working out how beer will be sold at the World Cup

“Fans will be able to enjoy both Budweiser Zero and Budweiser during the tournament,” representatives of American brewing group Anheuser-Busch said in a statement on Friday. Budweiser has been one of the main sponsors of the WC since 1986.

At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, pressure from FIFA led to the introduction of an exception to the ban on alcohol sales in stadiums. Three years ago, during the Club World Cup in Qatar, beer was sold in a specially established zone in the suburbs of Doha, where it was significantly cheaper than in hotels in the city center.

Due to the high temperatures, the World Cup is unusually held in November and December. Organizers expect 1.2 million fans.
