The remake of the legendary film is puzzling.
Seven years ago, the Lenfilm studio and the Glavkino company announced a new ambitious project. Russian filmmakers planned to re-shoot the fantastic film “Amphibian Man” for a foreign audience.
The film was aimed at an Asian audience, so they planned to give all the roles to Chinese artists. Also, according to the developers, the characters will be swapped, that is, Ichthyander from a charming young man will become a beautiful sea maiden.
At the same time, the Russians were going to use during the filming of the original costumes that had remained at Lenfilm since the work on the original film, as well as a lot of props. True, all this will have to be delivered to the shooting in China.
For fans of Soviet science fiction, the thought of Ichthyander in the form of a girl only causes bewilderment. But for now, the project remains at the idea stage. The Glavkino company was declared bankrupt in 2019, and since then no one has talked about filming a remake.
