After Dilan and Engin Polat, who were arrested for 4 separate crimes such as money laundering and tax evasion, were brought to court after a fight with their neighbors, the prosecutor’s investigation was concluded. SIA reports that Dilan Polat was sentenced to 8 years and 4 months for insulting and wounding, and Engin Polat was sentenced to 11 years for violating the privacy of his residence.
The incident took place on June 2, 2023 in Çekmeköy area of Istanbul. The couple Engin and Dilan Polat, who live in a residential complex with luxurious mansions, organized a party for their birthday.
Dilan Polat published the words “Turn off the city lights, my husband is blowing the cake” prepared for her husband on billboards. Many guests came to the Polat couple’s house. For this reason, a parking problem has arisen in the residential complex.
Neighbor Metin A. Polat, who lives in a villa close to Polat’s family, could not find a place to park his car because the vehicles coming to Polat were standing on the crossing road. He was forced to park on the street.
Meanwhile, Songül S.’s baby, who was a guest at Engin and Dilan Polat’s party, has a fever. When he wanted to be taken to the doctor, Metin A. couldn’t get out because he parked his car on the street. Songül A. went to Polat’s neighbor Metin A.’s house to take out his car.
When the vehicle did not pull over, Engin Polat went to Metin A.’s house. At that time, his neighbor came to his car. At that time, his wife Esra A. remained at home.
Engin Polat entered at night despite the neighbor’s refusal to give permission and cursed Metin A., asked where he was, and went out when he did not see her at home.
Meanwhile, Metin A. and Dilan Polat met on the road. Dilan Polat kicked her neighbor and cursed like her husband. Seeing this dispute, Engin Polat immediately came to his wife and beat his neighbor. The Polat couple also made threats saying “we will kill you, we will not let you live”.
At the end of the investigation, Dilan Polat was asked to be imprisoned for 8 years and 4 months for insulting and wounding, and Engin Polat for up to 11 years for violating the inviolability of his residence.
The indictment was sent to the court. If the court accepts, the Polat couple will be brought before the judge in the coming days.
