The Pumas against Australia, in Creevy’s farewell

After playing the first two rounds of the Rugby Championship 2024 as a visitor, Los Pumas will host Australia today, at 7 p.m. (ESPN and Disney+), at the Estadio UNO de Estudiantes de La Plata. The match corresponds to the third round of the tournament and will be Agustín Creevy’s last match with the Argentine jersey.

After 10 years, La Plata welcomes Los Pumas again for the Rugby Championship; the three matches played in the city were against the All Blacks at the Único stadium, the last being in 2014 with a 13-34 defeat.

Today’s match will be the first of two between the Argentines and the Wallabies in the country; the second will be played on Saturday, September 7 in Santa Fe. The history between the two teams includes 39 duels, 21 of them in the Rugby Championship. In this competition, Los Pumas won four times (the rival they beat the most times in the tournament), managed two draws and lost 15 times.

For Los Pumas, it is a good opportunity to win a series against Australia for the Rugby Championship for the first time. The last two encounters were for the Argentines; on July 15, 2023, Argentina defeated Australia in Sydney (34-31), while on August 13, 2022, the victory for the albicelestes was 48-17 (San Juan).

A great duel is expected today, where Los Pumas will go for the win.
