Libreville, Thursday April 18, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – It aims to improve the access of rural populations to basic social services by creating socio-economic infrastructures in priority areas such as health, education, housing, roads.
The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Raymond Ndong Sima chaired the official opening ceremony of the workshop to launch the Emergency Community Development Program (PUDC). He was next to the Deputy Prime Minister Alexandre Barro Chambrier and several other ministers.
In order to find innovative solutions that will make it possible to significantly reduce the high level of poverty in the country, the authorities are always using here and there to give better clarity to this fight . It is on this chapter that the urgent community development program launched in Libreville by the Prime Minister, Raymond Ndong Sima, falls.
In fact, the head of government is aware that 33% of Gabonese people live below the poverty line, especially with a higher rate in rural areas. The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of planning and forecasting, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier explained that the PUDC aims to improve the rural population’s access to basic social services by creating socio-economic infrastructure in priority areas such as health, education, housing, roads, etc.
Also, Mr. Chambrier invited local people to identify priorities and implement the various identified projects. He specified on Tuesday, April 16, that statistics officers will be sent on the ground to collect reasonable opinions from citizens.
For the representative of the United Nations (UNDP), Francis James, the PUDC has already proven itself in other countries, especially in the DRC and Senegal where 233 billion and 642 billion FCFA were given to the UNDP. This money has made it possible to build schools, hospitals, roads, strengthen the agricultural value chain and more. Francis James expressed his desire to reproduce the same results in Gabon.
At the end of this ceremony, the PUDC plan was presented to the Prime Minister.
