The publisher Gino Giometti has died, he was 59 years old

He died in Macerata, aged 59 after a long illness, Gino Giometti, editor, philosopher and translator. He had founded the publishing house Giometti & Antonello in 2013, and was the owner of a bookshop on the ground floor of Palazzo degli Studi, in Corso Matteotti in Macerata. He leaves behind his wife Milena and a son.

A philosopher by training, he studied philosophy at the university of Siena and then at that of Macerata, graduating with Giorgio Agamben with a thesis on Heidegger (published by Any with the title Martin Heidegger. Philosophy of translation). He then continued with a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Turin under the coordination of Gianni Carchia and Gianni Vattimo. The authors he has dealt with most are Max Kommerel, Robert Walser, Martin Heidegger and Antoine Berman.

In 1993 he was among the founders of the publishing house Any together with Stefano Verdicchio; he had been co-director until 2013, when he left to found the company together with Danni Antonello Giometti&Antonello, also in Macerata, with a predominantly literary catalogue, from Dylan Thomas to Joseph Conrad, which favored short texts, recoveries, fragments. Co-founder Danni Antonello passed away in 2017, at the age of 39, in the old headquarters of the bookshop in Piazza Mazzini. The bookshop itself, with its selection of used and antiquarian volumes, has been a cultural point of reference for the Marche city since its foundation.
