The Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, Reveals Challenges in Recovering Funds and Urges Transparency in the Banking Sector

The Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, tweeted on her account via “Twitter” today, Sunday, writing, “For everyone who believed that the Public Prosecution in Mount Lebanon would return his money to him, he explained the following: The money can only be recovered in two ways: either by declaring the bank bankrupt or The issuance of a law regulating the method of returning this money.

And she continued, “The Public Prosecution is claiming, and I am claiming breach of trust, money laundering, and negligent bankruptcy.”

And she added, “When claiming negligent bankruptcy, the plaintiff must pursue his case before the civil courts to liquidate the bank.”

Aoun pointed out that “the file of the 9 billion loans is still under consideration, and the decision to save one of the banks was to stimulate transparency and urge other banks to lift banking secrecy, which will reveal the truth.”

And she concluded, “Work is underway, even for the bank in question.”
