The Public Prosecution Service wants to take 100 million from The Hague drug lord

The Public Prosecution Service is demanding nearly 100 million euros from convicted drug baron Piet S. from The Hague. He would have earned that from his years of dealing with all kinds of drugs.

Piet S., who is now 68, was the leader of a large criminal organization that smuggled drugs around the world. S. and his fellow suspects traded in large quantities of cocaine and hashish, but also in amphetamine, crystal meth, heroin and ecstasy. The group bribed customs officials and port workers and used eight companies to launder drug money.

A year ago, Piet S. condemned to seventeen years in prison, even higher than the Public Prosecution Service had requested. The case is currently under appeal.

In a separate procedure, the Public Prosecution Service is now trying to remove several members from the group. The public prosecutor today asked the court to take more than 99 million euros from Piet S. and several suspects.

In the investigation of Piet S., the police have already seized hundreds of thousands of euros, as well as expensive cars, luxury watches, boats and real estate in Spain, among other places. The Public Prosecution Service saw this as proof that he must have earned millions from the drug trade, although they were unable to trace all of the money. The Public Prosecution Service believes that a large part of his assets are hidden somewhere.

The Public Prosecution Service still wants to take this money so they have worked out how much Piet S. needs to earn from his drug trade. The seized goods and houses are foreclosed. The court will decide later this year whether the entire 100 million can be taken away.
