The Ministry of Public Affairs (MP) opened an investigation into the actions of Tiago Mayan, resigning as president of the Union of Parishes of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde, in Porto, who recently admitted that names -written to create, a legal source told Lusa.

The former presidential candidate with the support of the Liberal Campaign admitted that he had forged the signatures of the jury members of the Portuense Community Support Fund, in minutes dated September 16.
In a November 7 meeting between the jury and the board’s chief executive, when Mayan was confronted with the document, Mayan confirmed that “it was he who prepared the document and put the signatures, giving such duty upon himself, freeing all others from any blame on members. of the executive team and his colleagues”, said the minutes of that meeting.
On November 10, Mayan assured that he never took any money.
“The events that led to my dismissal were in no way for my personal gain. I want to make it clear that I have never, in any way, donated any money and that It has always been my aim to allow the societies that benefit from this money to remain at a disadvantage for any procedural failure, as well as to do so sure that his projects will continue in service to the the people and the public interest”, said Tiago Mayan in a written letter sent to Lusa.
The liberal, who later gave up competing for the leadership of IL with Rui Rocha in the elective contract scheduled for the beginning of 2025, admitted that the action was “obviously thoughtless and senseless”. ‘ in which he “greatly” regrets.
However, he assured that his act did not “in any way” change the content of the jury’s decision of the Partnership Assistance Fund, only aimed to protect the exemption from a preliminary hearing period which, despite being enforced by law, decisions in previous editions of the fund did not change.
Mayan resigned on November 7 as chairman of the board, citing a lack of “personal conditions to continue” and assuming that the reason was his “total responsibility”.
Tiago Mayan was elected, in September 2021, president of the junta with 36.92% of the votes, by the independent movement “Rui Moreira: Aqui Há Porto”, with the support of IL, CDS, Nós Cidadãos and MASS.
