The public is asked not to ignore heart health, this is the importance of early detection : Okezone Lifestyle

HEALTH The public must pay attention to the heart even in the midst of a pandemic. The community should not be ignored heart health.

Doctor Arief Aji Subakti SpJP FIHA Cardiologist, Cardiologist at Siloam Hospitals said, coronary heart disease is a condition when the heart’s blood vessels (coronary arteries) are blocked by fat deposits.

“The more fat accumulates, the arteries will become narrower. The effect is to reduce blood flow to the heart,” said Doctor Arief.

Furthermore, Doctor Arief explained, as blood flow to the heart decreases, it will trigger symptoms of coronary heart disease such as chest pain and shortness of breath.

“If the condition is not treated immediately, the arteries will be completely blocked, triggering a heart attack,” he explained.

Therefore, it is necessary to detect heart health early. One of them is by using an electrocardiogram or EKG, which is a diagnostic examination that records or measures the activity of heart conditions.

Basically, the ECG test is painless. This EKG device will be attached to the chest, legs, and arms. On one side, will be connected by wires on the electrocardiograph machine.

The results of the examination will describe the condition of heart health.

Usually, doctors recommend this health check for patients who experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, disturbances in heart rhythm, heart palpitations, and easily tired and weak body.

Meanwhile, the Director of Siloam Hospitals Mampang, dr. Hery Bertus MARS, said that his party provides free early detection of heart health to the community as a form of community health service and concern for building public awareness of the potential for disease occurrence due to impaired heart function.

“Disorders of heart function can affect anyone and from any circle. The increase in cases of heart attacks is often caused by risk factors and lifestyle,” said Doctor Hery Bertus.
