The PSOE changes its strategy after Vox’s hate speech and launches a slogan appealing to democracy | Radio Madrid

The PSOE of Madrid has changed its strategy for the 4-M elections after the bitter debate of the candidates this Friday on Cadena SER and has released a new slogan, under the motto ‘It’s not just Madrid. It’s Democracy. ‘ This has been presented in an act by the candidate for the Community of Madrid, Ángel Gabilondo, the deputy secretary general of the PSOE, Adriana Lastra, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and the director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez.

Marlaska and Gámez, the two positions of the PSOE that this week they received, like the candidate of United We Can, Pablo Iglesias, a threatening letter along with several bullets, have requested the condemnation of Vox’s attitude, because, according to the minister, “It is a duty of democracy, coexistence and tolerance.” “Madrid is not the Madrid of hate,” stressed Marlaska.

“When there is signaling of people, half measures are not worth, equidistance is not worth, you have to do the condemnation in particular, because if not, that equidistance reminds us of other fascisms, to other times and to another moment that this rule of law recovered and defeated, “proclaimed Marlaska.

In this sense, Marlaska has charged against the PP candidate, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom he has aligned with Vox, ensuring that These two formations “try to confront this Community with the rest of Spain”.

Gabilondo calls for mobilization to the polls

For his part, Gabilondo has called the mobilization of citizens to vote on May 4 to defeat “hatred, fear and threats” and thus prevent “the extreme right” from ruling. Gabilondo has made reference to what happened in the debate and has once again defended that he got up from it together with the rest of the left parties because Vox was making an “undemocratic” speech.

“In just three days they have attacked minors and covered the death threats of our colleagues. Today it was them, tomorrow it could be you, me or any of us. I have lived a long time already and I cannot allow fascism to be whitewashed. We are all María, Pablo and Fernando“, has claimed.

Thus, he has appealed to all the socialists and democrats whom he has asked to mobilize on May 4, because “a campaign” like the one they have been learning about until now has ended and he has defended that the PSOE is “very strong” to make “democracy” win.

At this point, he wanted to say “two little things” to Díaz Ayuso and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who “When violence is condemned without qualification and in general” it is that “there is a serious problem of democracy today here, in Madrid.” “There is no equidistance. We do not want jokes with this matter. We are already on our feet and if we mobilize, democracy will defeat fear, lies and hatred. We want a different society,” he added.

Gámez: “We need words, not bullets”

The general director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, has praised Gabilondo for his “extraordinary program” of government and has urged the people of Madrid to “not miss the opportunity to change Madrid.” “We want a Spain where rights are respected. We have to be strong so that freedom is not stolen from us. Freedom is not being afraid or intimidated by threats. Today we have to reject hate speech more than ever. We need words, not bullets, “he has launched.

For his part, Maroto, has promised that if Gabilondo comes to govern and she is the economic vice president, she will approve “feminist” and “diverse” budgets because she does not want “racism” in the Community. “Ayuso must be thrown out of Puerta del Sol. We are going to defend democracy, comrades. We are a tolerant Community, where we all fit. Madrid needs a change now, where we all fit “, he has launched.

Finally, Lastra has claimed that the ‘Red Square’ of Vallecas today “is redder than ever” and has told the fascists that “their threats” will win them at the polls for democracy, for social justice and for the working class. “For the deputy secretary general of the PSOE there are two candidates for the elections that represent the extreme right, because PP and Vox” are the same. “In the face of threats: democracy. We are here to defend our neighborhoods, our people, our health centers and our toilets.. To be a democrat is to defend the welfare state, “he said.

Change of slogan appealing to democracy

In this way, the PSOE has released this new slogan in a ceremony held in the Plaza de la Constitución in Puente de Vallecas, popularly known as ‘Red Square’. This is the same enclave where a few weeks ago Vox went to make the presentation of its campaign in an act that ended with incidents after the leader of the formation, Santiago Abascal, came down from the stage and jumped the police cordon to confront the neighbors who had come to express their rejection of the presence of the ultra-rightist formation in their neighborhood.

The change of slogan also comes days after several controversies led by Vox, such as the use of an electoral poster that mentioned false data on the collection of aid by unaccompanied foreign minors, or the cancellation of several electoral debates before the protest of the candidates of Unidas Podemos, PSOE and Más Madrid for the questioning that the Vox candidate, Rocío Monasterio, made during a debate on Cadena SER about the threats received by Iglesias, Marlaska and Gámez.

Another novelty in the act held by the PSOE this Saturday was the attendance of the popular television presenter Jorge Javier Vázquez, who witnessed the act from a front-line seat next to the socialist candidate.
