The Provincial Council has unveiled the five stages that will make up the Vuelta a Burgos 2021 that will be held from August 3 to 7 with a route of more than 800 kilometers, which will again have a promotional part with arrivals and departures from different areas of the province .
The great novelty of this edition is that the goal of the third stage will not end up high, in Picón Blanco, but after the ascent it will go down to the town of Espinosa de los Monteros so as not to repeat the goal that a few days later will crown the third stage of the Tour of Spain.
The first of the days will start from the feet of the Cathedral as a tribute to its VIII Centenary and will conclude in El Castillo, a tribute from the Burgos Ronda to the eighth centenary of the Seo in a stage that will set the starting point for this round
The second day, of 175 kilometers, will take the runners from Tardajos to Briviesca, in the so-called stage Through the routes of the Camino de Santiago ‘, while it will be in the third of 173 kilometers when the first litmus test arrives, traveling through very small municipalities. of the province in the fight for depopulation
‘Burgos de las opportunities’ is the name that the organization has chosen for this stage that will start from Busto de Bureba and climb Picón Blanco in the last kilometers, but the finish line will be installed in Espinosa de los Monteros.
The fourth will be a tribute to the European capital of Aranda de Duero wine and to the denomination of origin of that area and will begin in Roa, where the headquarters of the Denomination of Origin are located to conclude in the capital of La Ribera and as in the Previous editions, the Lagunas de Neila will put an end to a day that will begin in Comunero de Revenga.
The intention of the Diputación de Burgos is that 19 or 20 teams can participate and will wait for the Tour de France to end to know in detail which teams will start on August 3 and their riders, but from the organization they hope that proximity with the Vuelta a España it serves as a preparation for many cyclists.
The budget for this edition is 700,000 euros as it has been in previous editions.
