The Alicante Provincial Council has convened a new edition of the “Evarist Garcia” Short Theater Award in Valencian. The award, which reaches its twenty-second edition this year, is endowed with 3,000 euros and also includes the representation of the work selected by the evaluating jury.
The first vice president and deputy of Culture, Julia Parra, has confirmed that as of this week literary works can be submitted to this new call and has encouraged participation in it. “This is one of the most outstanding initiatives carried out by the Provincial Council in favor of the promotion of the Valencian Community’s own language with which, in addition, we want to remember the important role played in this regard by Evarist García and the best way to Doing so is by making known the work of brilliant contemporary authors, “Parra pointed out.
The presentation of works may be carried out electronically at the electronic headquarters of the Provincial Council and the admission period will end on July 31. The jury will be made up of a representative from the provincial institution and another from the Department of Education, Research, Culture and Sports, as well as relevant personalities linked to the theatrical world and literature.
The “Evarist Garcia” Award, jointly organized by the provincial institution and the Conselleria, was created in 2000 in order to promote culture and promote theater in Valencian. Last year a total of 15 works attended and the writer Amparo Vayá Gómez and her work Històries amb minúscules won this award, whose objective is to encourage, promote and disseminate the works in Valencian by authors from the Valencian Community.
