The GGD in Groningen wants to open two new test locations for corona in the province. And the one in Stad, which is still housed on the north side of the UMCG, is moving within the city. The current location is not easily accessible.

With the expansion of capacity, the GGD wants to meet the growing demand for tests and at the same time limit the travel time for the participants. Nationally, nearly 112,000 tests were taken last week, 25 percent more than the previous week. The other GGDs in the country are also expanding their capacity. Two weeks ago it was found that the test capacity was not fully utilized.
48 hours
The GGD in Groningen can still meet the demand for tests. However, as in the rest of the Netherlands, it is increasingly common that it takes longer than 48 hours before people get the results.
‘But that problem is separate from the test capacity,’ explains spokesman Esther Maring of the GGD Groningen: ‘The results are processed nationally and shared from a central point with the people tested. Incidentally, the majority of people get the results on time. ‘
The GGD hopes to announce where the test locations will be at the end of the week.
