The Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, through the Ministry of Health, began to give the second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to health personnel, people over 50 years of age, 12 years of age with immunocompromise, security forces and teachers, provided they have the complete vaccination schedule and 4 months have passed since the first booster was given.
In accordance with the consensus established within the framework of the Federal Health Council, made up of representatives of the 24 national jurisdictions, the health authorities agreed to advance in the application of the second booster of the vaccine after the recommendation of the experts that make up the National Immunization Commission (CONAIN) and that advise the national government.
In this regard, Leticia Ceriani, Undersecretary of Information Management, Permanent Education and Supervision of the Buenos Aires health portfolio, highlighted that “CONAIN recommended that the national government include these groups after evaluating the evidence on the decrease in the effectiveness of vaccines and the impact of a second booster dose”.
On the other hand, Ceriani stated that the second reinforcement will be free and federal, that is, without the need to request a shift in advance and those who live outside of Buenos Aires territory and who for some reason are in Buenos Aires territory may also be vaccinated, “there are availability of vaccines in our country in order to guarantee access to the entire target population.”
To date, 15,913,477 people have been inoculated with first doses, 14,368,488 with second doses, and 7,854,004 people with third doses or booster doses, for which reason it has more than 95% of its population immunized against the coronavirus.
It is recalled that in the Province of Buenos Aires the vaccine is free and Federal for the following groups:
-1st. and 2nd. free and federal dose for people over 3 years of age from Buenos Aires, from other jurisdictions and also foreigners.
-3rd. free dose for all people over 12 years.
-4th free dose for immunocompromised people and people over 50 with two doses of Sinopharm, 4 months after their last application.
– 4th. free dose for travelers with travel certification and informed consent, downloaded from vaccinatepba.gba.gob.ar.
