The protests in Skopje: the Constitution is not toilet paper

Macedonian citizens expressed for the seventh night in a row his protest against the French proposal for the start of negotiations between North Macedonia and the EU, commented the Macedonian newspaper “Vesnik”.

The protest started in front of the government building and continued in front of the Ministry of Justice, where citizens put up banners “This is the Constitution“, “This is toilet paper”, “These are handcuffs” and others.

The protesters then proceeded to the parliament. Patriotic songs and chants were heard at the protest: “Resignation”, “Never North, only Macedonia” and “Macedonia”.

Citizens are against France’s proposal to settle the dispute with Bulgaria and starting negotiations with the EU.

The slogans read “Still we will win”, “Stop Bulgarianization”.

Throughout the past week, the opposition organized protests against the adoption of the so-called a French proposal to regulate the European integration of the RSM, which goes in a package with Albania. This week, political forces in parliament are expected to decide when they will discuss and vote on the frameworkproposed by the French Presidency.

The Bulgarian Parliament has already given its approvalconfirmed by a government decision.
