The protesters from Tsalapitsa came out in front of the Courthouse in Sofia

Residents of the Plovdiv village of Tsalapitsa gathered at a protest in front of the Courthouse building in Sofia, demanding a quick and fair trial against all those involved in the murder of 24-year-old Dimitar Malinov from the village. The demonstration is being held under the title “Justice for Mitko”.

“We want fair punishment for my son’s murder”, said Atanaska Bakalova, mother of the victim, quoted by BTA. Protesters are calling for “life imprisonment” for anyone connected to the young man’s murder.

This is another action by the residents of Tsalapitsa, after protests have already taken place in Plovdiv and Stamboliyski. The protesters are also demanding the resignation of police officers in the regional administration in Stamboliyski, because they believe that it is the uniformed officers who are responsible for delaying the investigation and the escape of the alleged perpetrator of the murder.

The locals are also dissatisfied with the fact that the twins detained as helpers have not been charged with complicity in the murder.

The collection of new evidence is actively being worked on, including the search for charges for the crime, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov assured yesterday.

All officials who were inactive or did not work properly in the case will bear their responsibility, including criminal, he said.

Regarding the inspection in the regional administration in Stamboliyski and the temporarily suspended chief Angel Kerpiev, the minister emphasized that he expects many violations to be discovered and Stoyanov not to return to his post.
