The protest of activists blocking trucks on the Polish-Belarusian border has ended

The protest ended, as activists’ demands were met in the fifth package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation: a ban on the import and transit of new goods by road from Russia and Belarus to the territory of the European Union.

Panchenko thanked Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for his assistance and urged to help Polish entrepreneurs. She proposed to develop a compensation system for Polish carriers and make sure that they no longer have to travel to Russia.

At the same time, Belarusian and Russian drivers, who have been waiting in line for several days to go to Belarus, are dissatisfied with the package of sanctions imposed against Russia. They complain that with their salary at home, they “will have nothing to eat.”

Context:

Polish and Ukrainian activists blocked the passage of trucks with Belarusian and Russian numbers since mid-March. So they wanted to draw attention to the fact that trade with Belarus and Russia is in full swingand get tougher sanctions.
