Yesterday we already published it Ridley Scott is busy reuniting the cast for the Oscar-winning sequel Gladiator since 2000. Now it seems clear which actor should play the lead role.
Via The Hollywood Reporter we get the message that the 26-year-old actor Paul Mescal talking about the second movie drive. Obviously an unknown name, but certainly a talented one.
After sun
The Irish actor recently impressed with his role in the miniseries Normal people (2020), in the Netherlands on ViaPlay. He later appeared in the Netflix movie The lost daughter and now he’s rolling his eyes with After sunseen by many as an Oscar nominee.
Ai Lucius
The film is about the adult son Lucius of Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) who died in the first part, and is the cousin of Commodus.
According to THR, Austin Butler (Elvis), Timothy Chalamet (Dune), Miles Teller (Top Gun: nonconformist) and Richard Madden (game of Thrones) also auditioned for the role.
In 2024?
The screenplay, which is almost finished, is still being edited by David Scarpa and recordings for Gladiator 2 it should probably start later this year. Put the film on your agenda for 2024.
