The State Attorney General’s Office the former Correísta assemblyman accused Ronny Aleagacurrently a fugitive from Justice, of developing a “smear campaign” to damage the image of the prosecutor Diana Salazar.
In an official statement, the Prosecutor’s Office responded to a video published by Aleaga in which the former legislator claims to have text messages that show alleged manipulation of Justice by prosecutor Salazar. Aleaga affirms that the veracity of the incriminating messages has been verified by a company of the USA (he does not specify his name) and that he will share them with the public and international entities. The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that this is an attempt to confuse the population and “minimize the work of the Institution against corruption, drug trafficking and impunity.”
Through the statement, the Institution also points out that Aleaga did not appear to give his version after being prosecuted in the anti-corruption operation. ‘Metastasis’in which he was linked to the deceased drug trafficker Leandro Norero. The Prosecutor’s Office suggests that the former legislator seeks to hide from the legal system and highlights that, in the video, the politician identifies himself with the alias «Russian»the nickname used by Norero to refer to one of his political allies in conversations leaked by Justice.
The same prosecutor Salazar reacted to Aleaga’s video through a publication on the social network Pablo Escobar used against the Colombian Minister of Justice Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, who investigated the sale of cocaine in the South American country. Escobar accused Lara Bonilla of slandering him and collecting bribes before ordering her murder in 1984.
