The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic presented this Wednesday a request for former President Elías Antonio Saca, and his wife, Ana Ligia Mixco, to be forced to return $4,482,307.53 to the State, which they have not paid until today.
Saca and his wife were previously sentenced to return said amount, after being found guilty of illicit enrichment.
The FGR intends for the amount to be paid through the real estate, bank accounts and shares that were confiscated at the time from both former officials.
The former First Lady has alternative measures to detention and is obliged to appear to sign every 15 days at the Sixth Sentencing Court of San Salvador.
The former president, for his part, has been in prison since 2018 after being sentenced to 10 years in prison, after having confessed in an abbreviated procedure that he laundered $301 million of State money.
