The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Illicit Drug Trafficking Crimes – Ayna Headquarters, jurisdiction of the Vraem managed to have Abel Navarro Ramos sentenced to 12 years and 10 months of imprisonment, as the author of the crime against public health, in the modality of favoring the aggravated illegal consumption of toxic drugs, to the detriment of the State, and the payment of 30 thousand soles of civil reparation.
During the oral trial, provincial deputy prosecutor Jhon Cherrepano Consuelo demonstrated that, in March 2023, police personnel seized a silver van in which the convicted man was traveling as a passenger. A black backpack and a gift bag belonging to Navarro Ramos were found in the vehicle, inside which were found compact brick-type packages lined with yellow tape.
Given the evidence, the law enforcement officers introduced a metal rod inside a randomly chosen wrapper, extracting remains of a whitish substance, which showed a presumptive positive result for cocaine alkaloid (17,152 kilograms) after performing the respective field test, for which led to his arrest after acknowledging that he was the owner and that the drugs were destined for the Lima region.
