the prosecutor reacts to his testimony

François Pérain, public prosecutor of Nancy, wanted to react to the words of a victim of domestic violence, reported in our columns this Tuesday, February 15. Her ex-spouse having been released from prison, she now fears for her safety, convinced that the anti-reconciliation device from which she benefits would end in April.

“Inaccurate remarks which suggest that Justice is abandoning the victims”, explains François Pérain. “The victim has benefited from a BAR (anti-reconciliation bracelet) since December 2021 for a period of up to 36 months”

This person “obviously thought that the end of his ex’s electronic surveillance placement, in April 2022, meant the end of the BAR. However, he is placed under probation for many months allowing beyond April 2022 to extend the BAR. »

The prosecutor recalls that “everything had been explained to the victim when the equipment was handed over”. She will be contacted by the France Victimes 54 association “to explain to her again the legal framework in which the BAR is part”.
