The Prosecutor opens criminal investigation proceedings for the Fuenlabrada case | Radio Coruña

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of A Coruña has opened criminal investigation proceedings for the Fuenlabrada Case after the complaint filed by the City Council. It is the ordinary process in this type of case, according to what sources from the prosecution point to this writing. The question now is to clarify what happened and determine if there are signs of crime in the events reported by the municipal government of A Coruña. If this were the case, a complaint would be filed with the court on duty so that the judicial process could continue. It is a reserved procedure.

The City Council reported to the Prosecutor’s Office the trip from Fuenlabrada to A Coruña, despite the fact that four of its members had to stay in Madrid after testing positive in coronavirus and without waiting for the results of the last PCR tests, carried out just before the displacement.

The local government of A Coruña considers that the indications and facts that are known so far prove a reckless and negligent behavior on the part of the League, which created an obvious health risk by not immediately communicating the source of contagion, which prevented the health authorities from adopting the relevant isolation measures.

The mayor expresses “maximum respect”

The mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rey, has shown her “maximum respect” for the opening of proceedings by the Prosecutor’s Office in the ‘Fuenlabrada case’. “As in all the actions carried out by this Government, maximum respect for the actions of justice and the decisions that may be taken,” she said.

In statements to the media, the councilor has defended that the presentation of the letter by the City Council to the chief prosecutor of the Provincial Court sought to determine whether there was “any kind of willful and culpable negligence” in the case. “We understood that it was the Prosecutor’s Office that had to investigate“, has added.

Once the Prosecutor’s Office has decided to open proceedings, Rey pointed out, “the matter is no longer in our hands and I will be extremely prudent and there will be no further comments.”
