“The Prosecutor General’s Attack: Investigating the Motives Behind the Terrorist Act”

The reasons for committing such an intentional crime of a general nature are subject to proof.

“My personal reading of the terrorist act against the Prosecutor General is that perhaps it is the desire of certain individuals and organizations to control the independent judicial institutions, or to prevent an investigation, and perhaps to erase the successes of the Prosecutor’s Office. Persons affected by criminal proceedings would have an account of this act. This was stated by the member of the Supreme Judicial Council, Kalina Chapkanova, in the program “More of the Day” on BNT.

“Anything is possible. Multiple versions are being investigated at this stage,” she explained.

Kalina Chapkanova drew an analogy with the terrorist act in Burgas, for which she was personally responsible for the investigation. According to her, the explosion in Sarafovo was equivalent to 2.5 kg, while in the current case it was 3 kg. “The explosive device was not prepared for intimidation, but was intended to cause the death of a certain number of persons,” she pointed out.

When asked whether the staged version could be allowed, Kalina Chapkanova said: “The launch of this version shows that there is media freedom in Bulgaria. I couldn’t imagine that your own loved ones could put themselves in such danger. It is dangerous to even think in such a direction.”
