In a note sent to the lawyer of Mehmet Faysal Söylemez, the suspect in the murder of Virtual Bet and Casino operator Halil Falyalı, the name of the criminal organization leader Alaattin Çakıcı was also mentioned. It was alleged that the prosecutor instructed the Police to investigate Çakıcı’s relationship with the Söylemez brothers and Halil Falyalı.

In the phone examination, it was determined that Mehmet Faysal Söylemez, the number one suspect in the murder of Halil Falyalı, took a photograph of a piece of paper and sent it to attorney Atalay Burak Türkel the day after the murder. In the note in question, “Alaattin Çakıcı is 14 million dollars. Mehmet Kocakerim is the nephew of restaurant chain barber Yaşar in London. His main business is money laundering. 14 months ago, there were some names such as “Ali Çakıcı, Armağan Deniz, Yaşam Ayavefe” in Malta.
Mehmet Faysal Söylemez, who was detained three days after the murder and whose statement was taken at the police station on February 20, 2022, was asked about the note in question. Söylemez said, “After my brother Mustafa Söylemez was detained after the murder, this note came to me physically by someone whose identity I cannot remember. So I sent this note to Atalay Burak Türkel without knowing why. I don’t know why I sent it.” said.
‘Relation and conflict of interest should be investigated’
Upon this development, the investigating prosecutor took action. The prosecutor, who wrote an official letter to the Istanbul Police Department Anti-Organized Crime Branch, asked to investigate whether the leader of the crime organization Alaattin Çakıcı, Yaşam Ayavefe, and other people, whose names were mentioned in the aforementioned note, were in contact with other members of the organization whose names were mentioned in the murder of Mustafa Söylemez and Falyalı. He noted that these names should be contacted with Halil Falyalı and any conflicts of interest should be investigated.
‘No direct detection’
The police responded to this post 3 months later. In the open source search, the images of the articles written by journalists such as Tolga Şardan and Timur Soykan after the murder were submitted to the file. The articles in question contained information that Çakıcı dominated the underworld in Cyprus after the murder of Falyalı, and that Yaşam Ayavefe was a great rival of Falyalı. These articles were included in the investigation file. However, the Police claimed that there was no direct determination that Çakıcı, Ayavefe and other names had connections with the murder suspects and Halil Falyalı.
