The prosecution requested this Friday the indictment of the police officer, author of the fatal shooting of a motorist in Sevran on March 26 for “willful violence resulting in death without intention to give it”.

After 48 hours in police custody, the BAC police officer, the Anti-Crime Squad, was brought before the Bobigny prosecutor’s office on Friday. He asked “the indictment of the police officer for “willful violence with a weapon by a person holding public authority which resulted in death without intention to give it”, announced Eric Mathais, the public prosecutor of Bobigny, as well as his placement under judicial control. The maximum penalty incurred is 20 years in prison, the magistrate said.

During a press conference held this Friday, Eric Mathais returned to the content of the various hearings of the 32-year-old police officer while in police custody.

In a second hearing, the brigadier claimed “to have felt in a state of self-defense” and “to have fired for this reason”.

Éric Mathais also specified that the exploitation of the surveillance cameras of the city of Aulnay-sous-Bois shows the extreme rapidity of the facts.

The brigadier, whose “lthe service records do not mention any disciplinary history“, will be presented to an examining magistrate in the evening.

Following the death of the father, aged 33 and living in the Beaudottes district, five consecutive nights of violence occurred in several communes of Seine-Saint-Denis. In Sevran, Aulnay-sous-Bois and Tremblay-en-France, popular towns located northeast of Paris, vehicles and garbage cans were set on fire and projectiles thrown at the police, without causing any injuries.

Since the start of the scuffles, 41 arrests for acts of violence and degradation have taken place, including several concerning minors, eight in total. Fifteen people have been referred for immediate appearance.

The victim’s family has filed a complaint with civil action for “voluntary homicide”.

A white march from Aulnay-sous-Bois is scheduled for tomorrow Saturday at 11 a.m. in memory of the victim.
