The prosecution asks for more than 4 years in prison for throwing cobblestones at policemen at a Vox rally | Radio Vigo

The Prosecutor’s Office asks for four and a half years in prison for an accused of an attack crime, for throwing cobblestones at agents of the National Police during a protest that took place in Vigo on the occasion of a Vox rally, and that will be judged this Wednesday in the fifth section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.

The accused was part of a “tumult” of some 300 people who gathered in the late night ofOctober 24, 2019 in the vicinity of the Mar de Vigo Auditorium.

It was a concentration not communicated to the Government Sub-delegation, summoned to protest the presence in the city of Santiago Abascal and other positions of Vox, who participated in a pre-campaign rally on the occasion of the general elections of November 2019.

The Prosecutor’s Office indicates in its letter that the accused was in that concentration and that, when the Police asked the participants in it to disperse to restore traffic on Avenida de Beiramar (which had been cut off), he threw a fence at the agents, without reaching them, showing an “evident contempt for the principle of authority.”

He then threw a cobblestone that hit one officer on the foot and then another, hitting another policeman in the hand, but without seriously injuring either of them. The man was intercepted, reduced and detained and, in the struggle, he resulted in minor injuries “subsidiary to a single first medical assistance.”

It also claims that it be imposed fines totaling 1,800 euros for the injuries, and that it compensates each of the injured officers in 224 euros.
