The proportion of French people ready to be vaccinated is increasing, according to the Harris poll

PARIS (Reuters) – More than two-thirds of French people are ready to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and more than half of them say they have confidence in vaccines against the disease, according to the results of a Harris Interactive survey for LCI published Friday.

In a study entitled “Le Regard des Français sur les vaccines contre le COVID-19”, the polling institute, which questioned 1,478 people between March 11 and 12, indicates that 64% of French people say they want to be vaccinated as soon as possible. that they will have the opportunity. This represents an increase of eight points from the survey carried out on January 7.

When asked whether they trust COVID-19 vaccines, 55% of those polled responded positively.

The French, however, are divided with regard to the AstraZeneca vaccine in particular: only 43% of those polled say they trust the serum from the Anglo-Swedish laboratory.

According to the Harris Interactive survey, nearly three in four French people (73%) believe that anti-COVID vaccines can cause side effects.

On Thursday, several European countries announced that they were suspending the use of a batch of AstraZeneca vaccines against COVID-19 after bleeding disorders reported among people vaccinated in particular in Austria and Denmark.

In France, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, however declared that there was no reason at this stage to suspend the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the country.

AstraZeneca’s vaccine is an “excellent vaccine”, for her part, assured Margaret Harris, spokesperson for the World Health Organization, during a press briefing on Friday, recalling that no causal link had was established between the vaccine and the cases of thrombosis mentioned.
