The club says that they are already working on the composition of the next season.
“The club’s management has agreed on a new multi-year contract with the team’s top scorer Roberta Bukarts,” the statement said.
It is noted that the 32-year-old Latvian is currently the team’s most productive player.
“Both us and Bukart had a mutual interest in continuing cooperation. The hockey player first discussed his future with the coaches, who were unequivocally in favor,” says club owner Aleš Pavliks, noting that the hockey player’s talks with the club’s sports director Roman Šimicek and the club’s manager Patrik took place afterwards Rimmel, signing the contract with Pavlik.
“The club management is trying to work conceptually in order to have a strong and competitive team in the coming years, which has and will have everything necessary for successful operation,” Pavlik says, emphasizing that signing a new contract with Bukarta is proof of such a policy.
The Latvian hockey player collected 43 (21+22) performance points in 45 games this season.
“Bukiy is an experienced and, above all, a very productive player. He is doing well this year and you can see that he is satisfied and happy with us. So a new multi-year contract is only a logical outcome for both sides,” Simicek is quoted as saying.
He adds that this contract puts an end to speculations that Bukart could go to another club, such as Brno “Kometa”.
“I am satisfied with the new contract. My whole family and I are happy in Ostrava and Vítkovice, so there was no reason to think about another option,” says Bukart, who signed the contract on Tuesday morning. “We discussed the continuation at the club with the coaches, with the management of the sports section, and finally we had a personal meeting with the owner of the club. I felt that Vītkovice was still interested in me, so my choice was clear. The club’s ambitions are known, and I am happy to be a part of them.”
Bukarts has been playing in the Ostrava club since the 2021/2022 season, but previously he also played there in the 2019/2020 season. In the Czech Republic, he has also represented the teams of Prague, Tršinec and Zlín.
Because of the injury, Bukarts could not participate in the tournament of the Beijing Olympic Games in the previous season, but in the world championships, the striker stood out with one goal and two assists in seven matches.
