The project “City of Culture Bavaria-Bohemia” will also be continued in lockdown

Also in the new year and despite the contact restrictions, the Centrum Bavaria Bohemia and the cultural cities of Schwandorf and Wunsiedel are working to bring German and Czech culture together with the project “Cultural City of Bavaria-Bohemia”.

Schönsee. Until the beginning of February, beautiful nativity scenes from Bavaria and the Czech Republic can be admired both online and through the windows of the former restaurant “Zur Post” on Schwandorf’s market square. Creative artists can look forward to the webinar series “Cultural work – continue and start again!”, Which enables exchange between individual actors and offers new impulses for cultural work.

Historical and thematic cribs from the six neighboring regions along the Bavarian-Bohemian border are on display in the center of Schwandorf until February 2nd in the premises of the former restaurant “Zur Post”. The exhibition therefore not only shows the diversity of the Bavarian and Bohemian nativity scene, but also the numerous similarities of the Bavarian-Bohemian nativity scene. Those interested can look at selected exhibits through the beautifully lit nativity scene windows and go on a cinematic nativity scene path along the Bavarian-Bohemian border at www.bbkult.net. A total of 27 exhibits from the six neighboring regions can be admired. The virtual tour has met with great interest with over 1,400 views so far. The exhibition period on the market square was extended until the light of the Virgin Mary on February 2nd, the traditional “Virgin Mary cleaning”.

“Cultural work – continue and start again!”, That is a concern of many cultural actors – the Centrum Bavaria Bohemia and the cultural cities of Schwandorf and Wunsiedel are therefore starting a three-part webinar series on January 21st under this motto. Due to the restrictions in the corona pandemic, cultural life largely came to a standstill and presented all cultural actors with unexpected challenges. Representatives of associations, organizations and institutions are invited to exchange ideas on challenges and possible solutions as part of the webinar series. Practical examples offer new ideas for club and cultural life, because despite the adverse conditions, creative and innovative solutions were developed in many places and new possibilities opened up – be it with online or outdoor events, or through new forms of communication. The webinar consists of three individual events, which take place online on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on January 21, January 28 and February 4. Participation is free. The event will be carried out via Zoom and simultaneous interpretation will be provided. Please register by January 18th by emailing [email protected].

Further events announced for the winter as part of the cultural city of Bavaria-Bohemia will unfortunately not take place due to the current restrictions.

Both events take place within the framework of the “Culture City of Bavaria-Böhmen” project, which is carried out by the Centrum Bavaria Bohemia in cooperation with the cultural cities of Schwandorf and Wunsiedel. The project “City of Culture Bavaria-Bohemia” is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland, the district and the city of Schwandorf and the Bavaria Bohemia Cultural Foundation. The aim is to bring the diverse cultural life of the neighboring regions along the Bavarian-Bohemian border in the cultural cities of Schwandorf 2020/2021 and Wunsiedel 2021 to the stage.
