The progressive coalition regroups in the Ligurian regional elections, the idea of ​​a united leaders’ square in Genoa takes hold

In Liguria it ended up getting lost, shattered by the divisions that emerged on the Renzian issue and not only that, and in Liguria it could find itself again. It is on the challenge of the Ligurian Regionals at the end of the month that the progressive coalition found the opportunity to regroup after the splits and the great frost between the protagonists of the (former) wide field of recent weeks.

Two weeks before the regional vote, with the latest polls showing a substantial head-to-head between candidates on the left Andrea Orlando and right Marco Buccithe possibility of a return to a unitary square is gaining ground, with all the leaders on stage next to each other, as already happened in Genoa no later than last July. There is already a hypothetical date, October 24th, and everyone’s openings are there: Giuseppe Contethe red-green leaders Nicola Fratoianni e Angelo Bonelli, Carlo Calendaand “obviously” – this term is specified from the Nazarene – the dem secretary Elly Schlein.

Once again possible, also and above all with the unity found in Parliament with the vote on the Constitutional Court, the scenario of “recomposition” through a common meeting in the square has been worked on in recent days by Orlando himself, who was the first to suffer the brunt of his own campaign electoral reflections of the divisions of recent weeks, and is the first to be aware of the sensitivity of the challenge.

The discussion was then reopened by Grillino leader Conte, who was busy today with a long day in Genoa in support of Orlando. “Will I ever return to the streets with Schlein for the closing of the campaign? – he responded to a dedicated question, alongside the coalition’s gubernatorial candidate himself – We have a project in common, I have no difficulty in closing the electoral campaign with Schlein and with others who are involved in this coordinated political project”.

They were the first to seize the opportunity of Grillina’s availability Fratoianni and Bonelli. “The joint initiative in support of Andrea Orlando is good, we all have the duty to make the alternative to this ugly right credible”, is the position of Avs. “We have always worked for the objective of unity because that is what the citizens ask of us, which is why we consider Giuseppe Conte’s words positive also for the work we have done in recent days to bring the forces of the alliance to be united also with common initiatives”.

“Sure, what’s the problem? – cut short instead Calendar – If you support a candidate you support a candidate, it seems obvious to me.” While from the Nazarene, to respond to Conti’s opening, we recall the “stubbornly unitary” which became Schlein’s more or less successful mantra.

The event, still to be organised, will thus be an investment in Orlando’s race, faced with the risk of a defeat which would significantly complicate the autumn regional elections, and at the same time on the same opposition camp which emerged with broken bones from the Grillino ultimatum on Renzian’s presence in the team in Liguria first.
