The theme weekend of Burgas is dedicated to nature and its preservation in the horizon. From May 17 to 19, the beach town offers a rich program with different events and places.
For another year, Burgas Municipality’s partner is the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, together with RIOSV-Burgas, which invites children and parents to a Biodiversity Carnival on the theme “Burgas on Three Lakes”. The colorful extravaganza gathers those who want on Friday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m. on Atanas Sirekov Square.
The one-of-a-kind parade with costumes will pass by “Bogoridi” Street and will end at 6:30 pm on the open stage “Snail”, where the children will play and get all participants reward. An invitation to participate in the Carnival rules has already been sent to all kindergartens and educational institutions in Burgas.
The Biodiversity Foundation has prepared many more activities on Saturday, May 18. On the shores of Lake Athanasius (Sabrebeak Trail and Hideout) you can find outdoor yoga classes, lectures about Lake Athanasius and bird watching, as well as the Via Pontica – The Eternal Path of Birds Photographic Assembly.
One of the most interesting moments will be on Saturday evening, at 8:00 pm – Stories from the evening: nocturnal wildlife in the city – a night walk with Stanimira Deleva from the BBF on the paths around the Halloween Species Observation Shelter.
SaturdayMay 18, we also celebrate Museum Night. Natural History Museum – Burgas is also included in the Green Weekend with free entry from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am In addition to the regular exhibitions, a special one awaits you – an exhibition by colorful panels of orchids in Bulgaria.
Onward May 19 (Sunday) The Biodiversity Foundation encourages you to grab the bikes or use the townships to participate in the event “By bike from PlanetUm to the floor. The meeting point will be at 10.00 am in front of PlanetUm, and at the destination “Poda” is waiting for you for bird watching and a talk.
Again on Sunday Strandzha Nature Park will welcome all nature lovers with an educational walk in the Otmanli area starting at 9:30 a.m. The trail is suitable for young and old nature lovers.
Green Weekend partners include Burgas Zoo, with summer working hours every day from 08.00 am to 8.00 pm. Be sure to visit this attraction and meet the newest residents. In the Ecopark for Biodiversity and Other Tourism “Vaya” you will find various activities and beautiful natural scenery.
If you want to enjoy the nature of the area, “Green Strandzha” invites you to be part of a tour “In the kingdom of the warm nose”. Its beginning is on May 19 (Sunday), at 10:30 am, from the square in Kondolovo village, Tsarevo city.

11:00 am Visit to Poda (admission BGN 7 for adults and BGN 4 for students to watch birds with optical equipment from the terraces of the Center) and free lecture.
12:00 Relax in the courtyard of the Poda Nature Reserve and on the pier under the bridge
13:00 return for those who want to move with the group (the rest can move alone)

Educational walk with plant and bird watching in Otmanli area,
Start: 9:30am.
Collection point: Otmanli forest nursery
An easy route suitable for all ages. Length: 2.2 km.
Able to see more than 20 species of plants and more than 10 species of birds. Plants: oak (cer, blagun), dogwood, red hawthorn, hollywood, gorse, field elm, jasmine, hornbeam, etc. Birds: raven, southern night owl, blackbird, common sparrow, tit, etc. The path offers suitable conditions for photos in nature.
