The Profitability and Longevity of No Man’s Sky: Generating Impressive Income Seven Years After Release

The space simulator No Man’s Sky with the exploration of endless planets and construction from the studio Hello Games has become one of the most scandalous projects of the last decade. The release version of the game was completely different from what the developers promised and showed. Nevertheless, the authors managed to regain the trust of the community and make No Man’s Sky an extremely profitable game, which continues to generate impressive income even seven years after its release.

The profitability of No Man’s Sky was noticed on the game’s official community on the Reddit subforum. The space simulator reportedly earned Hello Games £39.7 million in 2022, which is approximately $48 million. And this amount consists solely of net sales of No Man’s Sky on PC and consoles. For comparison, the studio earned slightly less from the game in 2021 – £27.4 million.

It’s amazing how No Man’s Sky, so long after its release, is able to generate such huge profits for developers. During all this time, Hello Games did not release paid add-ons and delighted the community with patches and content updates. Apparently, this is quite enough to increase players’ interest in the project every year. Amid the controversial release of Starfield, No Man’s Sky’s profits are expected to rise again this year.
