The folk song circle at the beginning of the month III. Zoltán Kodály took part in a Folk Music Meeting in Dunapataj. Before a choir rehearsal, they told our readers about their highly successful performance and the details of the qualification performance in their rehearsal room on Szabadság út.
– The primary goal of the KÓTA certification is to promote the professional advancement of the work of non-professional choirs, to provide a different professional challenge in addition to the regular activities of the choirs, and to stimulate the rise of the professional standards of the ensembles. During the joint qualifications, there is an excellent opportunity to see the professional work of other ensembles and to build relationships. It is important to point out that the management of the folk song circle from leader Éva Fáncsikné Hamar, dr. Gabriella Horváthné Lázás is the art director and Ferenc Bölcsföldi is the music director. But basically we are an amateur band and we rehearse twice a week – said Dr. Gabriella Horváth Lázár.
– For us, the performance in Dunapataj was much more than a meeting. Because we appeared in front of a renowned jury at the qualifier. This is a significant step forward for us, a serious professional challenge and feedback on our work that we have not had before. This is precisely why we plan to participate in the national competition, for which we have already prepared our application materials. This time, our repertoire also included bordals and love songs. Our song choices consciously reflected the traditions of Pentele and the songs of Mezöföld, which was recognized in the evaluation as being the same as the landscape, he added.
– The jury highlighted the clear, unified sound and our experiential performance, which clearly showed how much we love to sing. And the fact that we don’t just sing together plays a big role in this, but we are a community that loves to sing and works like a family with a lot of friendship and love. We would love to share our experiences, so we welcome like-minded people who want to sing ladies and men – explained dr. Gabriella Horváthné Lázár is artistic director.
