The Professional Conservatory of Music organizes three free concerts

The Professional Conservatory of Music (CPM) of Tenerife will celebrate Santa Cecilia, the festival of November 22, turning its facilities into a meeting point between culture, humor and symphonic music. The center will dedicate the entire day to presenting concerts and performances with free admission to celebrate the International Music Day.

The opening act is in the hands of the group Thingswho, accompanied by the Professional Education students of the Conservatory, will present “A bunch of funny sketches designed backwards.”

Added to the set of activities are the Elementary Education and Initiation students, who will take over the Central Patio with “Counting with Güicho Estévez”, a show for the whole family that combines the magic of stories with the art of music.

The evening will close with a flourish in the Lecuona Auditorium of the Conservatorywhere the award-winning White Voices Choir, the Chamber Orchestra and the CPM Band will give an exclusive concert.

A day dedicated to the passion for music, which will open its doors from 4:00 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m., and can be accessed by anyone without reserving seats until capacity is reached.

White Voice Choir

Tenerife has an extensive choral tradition, which has accompanied the figure of the Professional Conservatory of Music since its opening in 1931. The result of the prestigious teaching of the voice as an instrument is reflected in the White Voices Choir, awarded with high-level recognition, such as first place in the Ejea de los Caballeros Choral Competition, in which they also won the Audience Award in 2019.

This group, made up of 45 women between 14 and 24 years old, has also been awarded first place in the Marine Song Contest, which guaranteed them a place as representatives of the Canary Islands in the Grand National Choral Singing Prize in October this year.

The performance will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Antonio Lecuona Auditorium with free admission. Under the direction of Juan Ramón Vinagre, they will premiere the version for female choir and piano of “Estrellas fugaces”, with arrangements by Agustín Ramos and Manolo Ramos; They will perform the angelic tune “Kyrie”, by Stephan Carlson; Indonesian lullaby “Soleram” by Arr. Josu Elberdin; and they will close with “Heaven Full of Stars”, composed by Eric W. Barnum.

Next, Ángel Camacho’s baton will guide B. Britten’s “Simple Symphony” and its four movements, chosen for this great day by the Conservatory Chamber Orchestra.

The final touch will be the CPM Band that will delight the public, under the direction of Sergio Díaz Ropero, with “El Baile” by Luis Alonso Gerónimo and the Latin fantasy “El Camino Real” composed by Alfred Reed, putting a golden seal to International Music Day.
