“For the third time, the Chekhov Theater addresses this ironic story of the paradoxes of perception, the omnipotence of manipulation, and the high art of seduction, and on November 25, 1932, Mikhail Chekhov himself staged The actor Jakov Rafalson, who celebrated his 75th birthday in November, will now take on the role.
The story “Stepanchikova village and its inhabitants” was first published in the magazine “Dzimtenes Presaksti” in 1859. After Konstantin Stanislavsky’s first drama, many theaters became interested in storytelling – first in Russia and then abroad. The first performance took place exactly 130 years ago – in 1891. In 1917, “Stepanchikova Village” appeared on the poster of MHT (Moscow Daile Theater), and right after attending this show, Mikhail Chekhov wanted to play the role of Foma Fomich Opiskin at some point. He succeeded in Riga in 1932 on the stage of the Russian Theater.
The author and director of the drama, Sergei Golomazov, says: “This show is about the mechanisms of fascination. with external appeal, but this is not a prerequisite.Yes, advertising is often effective due to the beautiful image, but Foma Fomic works on the minds in other ways and succeeds.I wonder how and why the “king of the carnival” as this character named after Mikhail Bakhtin, rules the world of the village of Stepanchikov. “
The show will also be shown on December 19 this year.
