Linked support for 5 to 9 cows in mountainous areas will also include beef breeds
In conjunction with the derogation of the requirement in the ZEUS 8 to leave 4% of the agricultural area fallow, today the director of the “Direct Payments” Directorate, Adelina Stoyanova, made some clarifications during the “Farm” agricultural forum at the International Fair in Plovdiv.
As is already known, in 2024 the fallow requirement will not be applied, and instead of a bare field, the EC proposes that the areas be occupied either with nitrogen fixingor with intermediate crops.
Catch crops are sown after the main crops. They can also play the role of cover crops in order to meet the requirements of the other cover standard, added Stoyanova. Plant protection products (PRP) cannot be applied to these crops.
If producers grow nitrogen fixing crops, then they are considered to be basic culture. There are unspecified moments like this as to whether the RDPs can be applied. The answer to this question is not yet final. There is no restriction that prohibits the harvesting of nitrogen-fixing crops and their sale.
Another change proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture is that under the bound support for cows in mountainous areas, the support of meat breeds is now also allowed. The number of cows in mountain areas in one holding cannot be less than 5 and more than 9 animals. Proof of realized production is not required here.
