The feature debut of director Dimitar Sarjev “The Prodigal Son” will have its own World Premiere at the 22nd “Sofia Film Fest on the Shore” in Burgas.
At the screening of March 28 at 6 p.m the film will be presented personally by the director, who is also the screenwriter and producer of the production.
The next day at 11 a.m. Sarjev, together with the director Maria Stoyanova, who has a role in the film, will talk in detail about the film and the work on the filming of meeting with spectators and the media in the press area of the festival on the second floor of the NHK Cultural Center.
“The Prodigal Son” introduces us to 80-year-old Gergana, who waits for her son who died in Iraq every day at an abandoned bus stop.
There she meets Nasko, a taxi driver beaten by moneylenders, and recognizes him as her missing son. The two live in Gergana’s home, where Nasko receives from her a closeness and warmth that he has never met. The system separates them to bring them back together in a fantasy encounter that feels more like a dream than reality.
IN the roles are Gergana Kofardzhieva, Delyan Iliev, Grigor Antonov, Nedyalko Delchev, Vyara Tabakova, Maria Stoyanova, the music is of Mira Iskarova, a behind the camera are Kiril Prodanov and Delyan Georgiev.
Dimitar Sarjev graduated in Theater Directing in the class of Prof. Ivan Dobchev, and then in Film and Television Directing in the class of Prof. Georgi Dyulgerov. He directed performances at the “Sfumato” Theater Workshop. He has several short films, including Pigeon Hotel and Family Portrait. He is the author of the documentary film “Against the Flow of Time” dedicated to the pioneer in microsurgery Prof. Binka Popova.
