The processor industry is predicting fierce competition, which products will come to consumers this year?

Last year, when Apple unveiled its own processor M1, it predicted a major change in competition among processor manufacturers. While Apple and Microsoft have announced that they will continue to develop their own processors, it is expected that the strongest players in the existing processor industry, such as Intel and AMD, will pursue strategies to survive in fierce competition.

So, what new products will existing major companies launch? Introduced by Popular Science, an online science and technology media, the products scheduled for release by major chip makers in 2021 are as follows.

1.Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU

Last year, NVIDIA launched a new 30-series GPU product that lowered prices and improved performance. However, the full-size 30 series products have the disadvantage of large product size and enormous power consumption, so the evaluation that they are not suitable for installation in portable PCs was mainly made.

Accordingly, Nvidia introduced laptop-only chips, RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 at CES this year. All of them support the’Ray Tracing’ function that adds realism by calculating the type of light shining on an object and the material of the object surface in real time.

In addition, NVIDIA is looking to improve gaming performance on the RTX 30 series. The RTX 3080 supports a refresh rate of up to 100 fps at a resolution of 1440p.

2. Intel Tiger Lake Core H Series

Intel unveiled the 11th generation Core H-series chips to improve notebook performance. Three lineups of Core i5, Core i7, and Core i7 Special Edition will appear in new versions. All of them have turbo boost technology to improve single-core performance. It is especially useful for games and other resource-intensive tasks.

3. AMD Ryzen 5000 Cezanne

Last year, AMD introduced a mobile processor that significantly improved performance and battery life. This year, it plans to release 13 types of processor models targeting the mid- to low-end notebook market.

Among them, the HX series will be produced for gaming PCs and high-end products. In addition, two SKU lineups such as the Ryzen 9 5900X and the Ryzen 9 5980 HX are expected to be released. All are known to be 8-core products, and AMD claims that the Ryzen 9 5900X boasts more than 1/3 times better performance than Intel’s i9 chip. In addition, it is reported that AMD’s U series was released to compete directly with Intel’s Core i7 Tiger Lake chip.
