How is an organ harvest performed?

We are in contact with emergency physicians, neurologists and all the specialties that will allow us to confirm the sample. »
How many organs are harvested per year?
“At the CHR in Metz, we perform a dozen samples a year. Our ideal capacity would be two per month. To increase this number, in 2024 we will implement what is called Maastricht III. Currently, the donor must be in a state of brain death, with a beating heart. With this project, we will remove organs from patients with a stopped heart, by setting up regional and extracorporeal circulation.»
Is an initiative like that of Silly-sur-Nied useful?
“This billboard, for us, is exceptional advertising. When we meet the relatives of the sampled patient, we must explain to them the national register of refusals, the bioethical laws and the functioning of the hospital. When there was a reflection on the removal of organs, it simplifies our activity enormously and we can act more quickly. »
