The Ecuadorian soccer championship organized by the Pro League will start this Friday with the participation of sixteen teams, but with Barcelona and El Nacional without managers and with legal representatives designated by the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation (FEF).
While the FEF appointed Fred Larreategui, president of the Non-Amateur Football Association of Pichincha, as legal representative for El Nacional on December 29, for Barcelona it appointed Ricardo Muñoz Olvera yesterday, Wednesday.
The legal representatives must register the squads of both teams so that they can participate in local and international tournaments, and call elections so that the new directorates have the recognition of the Ministry of Sports.
Nacional has only 15 players qualified for the match against Universidad Católica until its legal situation is resolved with the election of its new board, and Barcelona would play against Imbabura with all its reinforcements if the legal representative manages to register the entire squad.
Meanwhile, Liga de Quito will begin next Monday the defense of the title it won the previous year in Ecuador, against the recently promoted Macara, in a duel of Spanish coaches, since Josep Alcácer and Macará are led by Alex Pallarés.
Liga de Quito will also debut the Argentine defender Andrés Zanini, the Bolivian attacker Gabriel Villamil and the Paraguayan scorer Alex Arce.
For its part, Macará will use the Argentines Cristian Correa, Gino Barbieri, Leonel Álvarez, Jorge Valdez, Facundo Pons, the Colombian Ronaldo Lora and the Uruguayan Emiliano Romero.
The day will begin this Friday with the match between Delfín, from Manta, against Independiente del Valle, which will make the debut of the Argentine coach Javier Gandolfi and the reinforcements of his compatriots Guido Villar, Cristian Zabala, the Uruguayan Renzo López and the Paraguayan Luis Zárate .
The cetacean will also present the Argentines Juan Manuel Elordi, Ignacio Gariglio, Enzo Gaggi and Nicolás Messiniti.
Due to the quantity and quality of players he has hired for the current season, Emelec is another of those who emerge as favorites to win the first phase with Colombian coach Hernán Torres, and in the first match he will visit Deportivo Cuenca.
Reinforcing Emelec are the Argentines Cristian Erbes, Marcelo Meli, Juan Ruiz Gómez, Facundo Castelli, the Colombian Andrés Ricaurte, the Uruguayan Rodrigo Rivero and the Venezuelan Alexander González.
Meanwhile, the Cuenca team will have in its ranks the Argentines Rodrigo Díaz, Nazareno Romero, Pablo Mangnín, who will join their compatriots who continue on the team Rodrigo Melo, Lucas Mancinelli, Raúl Becerra and the Uruguayan Guillermo Fratta.
