Unfavorable surf conditions since the start of the week forced the WSL to cancel the Basque event this Saturday
This 6th edition of Pro Anglet is definitely cursed. Canceled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Basque World Surf League qualifying circuit (QS) event this year should have first taken place at the end of June and early July. But the health situation linked to the virus had forced its postponement and then its reprogramming from August 24 to 29.
Alas, it is this time the total absence, or almost, of waves this week, logical continuation of a hardly prolific summer in good surfing conditions on the Basque-Landes coast, which led the WSL to decree, this Saturday , the outright cancellation of the competition. It had been idling in the Chambre d’Amour since Wednesday, after a rapid start on Tuesday, and too many series remained to be disputed this weekend for it to be able to go to an end in good conditions. Surfers still in the running will score the (modest) points for the last place of the current round: those (60) for 49th place for men and 25th (150) for women.
