“The Principle of Unity in the Heterogeneous Russian Army: Insights from Russian Oppositionist Igor Yakovenko”

The main principle of any army, the principle of unity of command, has been violated in the troops of the Russian invaders, Igor Yakovenko noted, and this plays in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Commenting on the news about the flight of 39 armed invaders from the Storm Z assault detachment, ex-deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Igor Yakovenko stressed that the Russian army is very diverse and violates the principle of any army – principle of unity.

De jure, the Russian army includes the former militia of the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”, which, in fact, never joined the occupying forces. There are also PMCs, not only Wagner, but others as well. There are detachments of Kadyrov, which are formally part of the National Guard, but in fact they are personally subordinate to Kadyrov. Such heterogeneity of the Russian army is a good gift to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, there are many cases of desertion, evasion from service and low morale in the occupying forces.

According to the analyst, all of the above signs of the Russian army – these are big pluses for the upcoming Ukrainian offensive. However, there are also disadvantages, which are connected with the fact that the military-technical resources of the Russian Federation are still quite large.

“Putin still has the opportunity, with the help of creeping mobilization, to send more and more thousands, tens and hundreds of thousands of Russians to the front, who become cannon fodder,” – expert stated.
